Professional Golf Comes to Richmond!

The Duramed FUTURES Tour is headed to the Richmond area for the first time in its 28-year history. The inaugural Greater Richmond Duramed FUTURES Golf Classic will be played at Richmond Country Club in Goochland County. This event will bring an international field of 144 to the greater Richmond area in mid August.

The Greater Richmond Duramed FUTURES Golf Classic, third to last tournament on the 2008 Duramed FUTURES Tour schedule, will offer fans the opportunity to see the next generation of stars on the LPGA Tour challenge one of the best courses in Richmond. This 6,500 yard par-71 championship golf course showcases rolling hills and luscious oak trees.

A total purse of $100,000 makes the Greater Richmond Duramed FUTURES Golf Classic an important late-season event for the players. With only two tournaments remaining after Richmond, players will be gunning for the top prize of $14,000 to help catapult them into the top five and put .themselves in prime position to earn one of the five exempt LPGA cards for the 2009 season.
